1st Mosman Scouts Group is organizing the Scouts Harbourside Hikeathon as our main fundraiser of the year. Its an event that combines Scouting activities (hiking) with the opportunity to raise funds for your Scout group. This year, it is by invite only, but we hope that in future years it will become a bigger activity, promoting Scouting, and of course, raising funds to allow us all to continue to provide exciting and challenging Scouting activities.
We are inviting all Scout Groups to take part and offering the opportunity for you to raise funds for your group, but also to provide input into what we hope will become an important event in the Scouting calendar.
For Scouts, Venturers and Rovers the Harbourside Hikeathon is a hike from Manly, through Sydney Harbour National Park to the Spit, then to Balmoral, around Middlehead, past the Zoo to THE BARN in Mosman Bay (20kms). Cubs will join the hike at The Spit and hike the same course (10kms) through to The Barn. The hike takes place over generally well made tracks, and some roadside footpaths however, some bush tracks may be eroded and uneven due to weather and usage. Joeys are invited to take the 3.5km walk from Bradley's Head to The Barn in the afternoon.
Scouts, Venturers and Rovers will be advised of start times between 8am 9am. Cubs start times will be from 11.00am. All participants will finish from 3.30pm.
